Perseus, a newly established UK-based premium electric car startup, has revealed plans to introduce a high-performance compact SUV by late 2027.
The company’s first vehicle, which has yet to be named, will aim to offer a balance of premium features at an attainable price. The SUV is expected to feature striking design, advanced technology, engaging performance, and a user-friendly experience, all while providing great value. This car is poised to compete with electric SUVs like the Porsche Macan Electric, Tesla Model Y, the upcoming BMW iX3, and the soon-to-be-released Polestar 7, all of which are expected to launch in the next few years.
To bring this vehicle to market in just over two years, Perseus has been forming partnerships with leading global OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. However, details remain scarce at this stage.
What we do know is that Perseus plans to use a cutting-edge electric vehicle platform from a major European manufacturer. The design, both interior and exterior, will be handled by a prominent Italian design and engineering firm. Perseus has also shared a teaser image of the car, which shows only a shadowy outline.
The software and user interface will be developed in collaboration with a specialist company skilled in artificial intelligence. Additionally, a European contract manufacturer will be responsible for production, ensuring high build quality and access to advanced manufacturing techniques.
Details about the specific brands and partners Perseus is working with are expected to be revealed soon, as well as the identities of key executives with backgrounds at Jaguar Land Rover, Lotus, Bentley, and Ineos Automotive.
Mohammed Yehya El Bakkali, the founder and CEO of Perseus, stated: “The launch of Perseus represents an exciting new chapter in automotive innovation. Our goal is clear: to create a premium British EV brand that delivers emotionally captivating design, exceptional performance, and a top-tier, AI-driven customer experience.”
