Fang Cheng Bao, the BYD sub-brand, will launch its sedan lineup later this year as part of its efforts to expand its product range.
In an interview with local automotive media outlet Dongchedi, Fang Cheng Bao’s general manager, Xiong Tianbo, confirmed the sedan lineup’s debut by the end of this year. Xiong also mentioned that the new Tai series will introduce additional models later in 2025.
The Tai 3, an all-electric SUV, was the first model released under the Tai lineup, launched on April 16, 2024. Priced starting at RMB 133,800 ($18,360), the Tai 3 is Fang Cheng Bao’s most affordable offering, broadening its range from off-road SUVs to family SUVs.
Fang Cheng Bao’s previous vehicles, the Bao 5 and Bao 8, were hybrid models designed for the off-road market. The brand also unveiled the Super 3 concept in April 2024, which was later renamed the Tai 3 when it was prepared for mass production.
Xiong noted that the design of the Tai 3 went through multiple discussions and revisions before reaching its final production version.
BYD launched Fang Cheng Bao on August 16, 2023. The first model, the Bao 5, debuted on November 9, 2023, with deliveries beginning shortly after.
Initially, Fang Cheng Bao followed a direct sales model, similar to many EV startups. However, it began incorporating dealers in 2024 to address coverage challenges, according to Xiong.
For 2024, Fang Cheng Bao reported sales of 56,388 vehicles, according to CnEVPost data. In March, the brand sold 8,051 vehicles, marking a 126.79% increase year-on-year and a 62.91% rise from February. By the end of March, the brand’s total sales reached 81,312 units.
