Volkswagen Group has suspended imports of Audi vehicles into the United States in response to President Donald Trump’s vehicle tariffs.
The German automaker, which is the world’s second-largest car company, owns several well-known brands, including Audi, Porsche, Bentley, Skoda, Lamborghini, and Cupra.
According to a bulletin sent to Audi dealers in the US, the company has stopped releasing vehicles that arrived at US ports after April 2.
Currently, Volkswagen has an inventory of about two months’ worth of vehicles with its dealers.
This move follows a similar decision by Britain’s Jaguar Land Rover, which also halted exports to the US after the controversial tariff was introduced.
Volkswagen has stated that this suspension will be a “short-term” measure while the company explores ways to manage the impact of the 25 percent tariff.
