Wayne Gretzky’s 1994 Rolls-Royce Corniche IV is Now Available for Sale

Wayne Gretzky’s 1994 Rolls-Royce Corniche IV, which was a gift from the Los Angeles Kings after he scored his 802nd career goal, will soon be up for auction. The auction will be conducted by RM Sotheby’s.

Gretzky received the car in 1994, just days after breaking Gordie Howe’s record. The special ceremony took place on March 30, 1994, before a game against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. “I really do feel a little embarrassed standing here getting this car this evening. It’s overwhelming, but I’ll take it,” Gretzky said at the time.

The 1994 Rolls-Royce Corniche IV is a rare vehicle, with only 219 units produced from 1992 to 1995. The luxury convertible is powered by a 6.75-litre V8 engine and a four-speed automatic transmission.

The car, which carries “Goal 802” tags, has 9,107 miles (14,656 km) on the odometer. While it is unclear how much Gretzky drove it, the car was acquired by a collector in Indian Wells, California, in 2016. It was later sold to a Massachusetts collector in 2023.

Before being sold, the car received a full mechanical inspection and service in 2023 from the O’Gara Coach Company in Beverly Hills. In 2024, it underwent cosmetic detailing in Costa Mesa, California.

The car features a sleek black exterior with vermillion pinstripes, chrome mirrors, and a tinted windshield. Inside, it is outfitted with black leather upholstery, burled walnut veneers, a grey headliner, and black Wilton carpets.

RM Sotheby’s estimates that the car could sell for approximately $1.2 million CAD. However, it will be sold without reserve, meaning it may not reach that price. The auction will take place on April 17. For a closer look, you can view a photo gallery of the car.
