New Audi Q5 Price Increases by $7K, But Tariffs Aren’t the Cause

by Grace

Audi has revealed the U.S. pricing and specifications for the new-generation Q5, which will be available at dealerships in May. The starting price for the compact luxury crossover is set at $52,200, before an additional $1,295 destination fee. This marks a price jump of $6,800 from the previous model, which started at $45,400. The 15% increase in price now places the Q5 above competitors such as the BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC.

What’s Behind the Price Increase?

Audi has not explained the reason for the price increase, leading to speculation about whether tariffs are to blame. In response, a company spokesperson clarified that tariffs are not the cause. “We have not passed on the additional costs from tariffs to our customers and will hold pricing through at least the end of May,” the spokesperson said. The future of pricing remains uncertain, especially with the unpredictability of tariff policies under the current U.S. administration. Reports suggest the Q5 could face additional tariffs, potentially as high as 52.5%.

The spokesperson also mentioned that while imports have been paused for now, Audi is monitoring the situation and working to offer customers the best possible product.

New Features and Design Updates

Despite the price increase, the 2025 Audi Q5 Premium comes with a sleek, updated design. The crossover now features a wider singleframe grille and slimmer headlights. It also boasts a sloping roofline and 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the vehicle offers a minimalist layout with a 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch infotainment display. Other notable interior features include leather front seats with eight-way power adjustment, illuminated door sill plates, a 15-watt wireless smartphone charger, and an expanded cargo space that can hold up to 56.9 cubic feet of luggage.

Though Audi has not provided a complete list of equipment, the base model includes a range of standard driver-assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition.

The Q5 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and comes with standard all-wheel drive, allowing the crossover to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph.

Trim Levels and Pricing

The Q5 Premium Plus starts at $56,700 and features a refreshed exterior with larger 19-inch wheels. Inside, it offers a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. Additional features include adaptive cruise assist and a bird’s-eye camera system. The Premium Plus also introduces a dynamic interaction light bar across the interior, adding a touch of modernity with its sweeping motion during turn signals.

At the top of the lineup is the Q5 Prestige, which starts at $60,600. This trim includes an adaptive air suspension, acoustic front door glass, and digital OLED taillights. Inside, customers will find ventilated front sport seats, heated rear seats, and a 10.9-inch display for the front passenger.

Q5 Sportback and SQ5 Variants

The Q5 Sportback follows a similar structure but features sportier styling. Prices for the Sportback start at $55,900, a $3,700 increase over the previous model. The Sportback also comes in Premium Plus and Prestige trims, priced at $58,800 and $62,700, respectively.

The SQ5, a higher-performance variant, starts at $64,800, marking a $6,400 increase. The SQ5 is distinguished by larger air intakes, a more aggressive diffuser, matte chrome accents, and a quad-exhaust system. Inside, it features leather and Dinamica upholstery with diamond stitching, stainless steel pedals, and carbon fiber trim. A sport-tuned adaptive air suspension is standard, as is a 3.0-liter TFSI V6 engine that produces 362 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. This engine allows the SQ5 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph.

For those seeking the ultimate in sportiness, the 2025 SQ5 Sportback is available starting at $67,600, which is a $5,800 premium over the previous model.
