Volkswagen is set to introduce multiple premium cars in India in 2025, including the highly anticipated Golf GTI and Tayron, according to various reports.
The VW Golf GTI, a well-loved premium hatchback, is generating excitement among Indian car enthusiasts. Currently in its eighth generation, the Golf GTI is expected to arrive in India, either as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) or Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit.
The Golf GTI Mk 8.5 will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the EA888 LK3 evo4, paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission. This engine delivers 261 horsepower and 370Nm of torque, enabling the car to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. The car’s top speed is limited to 250 km/h. It will feature 18-inch ‘Richmond’ design wheels and a range of premium interior features.
Along with the Golf GTI, Volkswagen will also bring the Tayron SUV to India, expected to be available in CKD form. The Tayron will come with a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 150kW of power and 320Nm of torque. It will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.
Inside, the Tayron will offer a variety of premium features, including 18-inch alloy wheels, a kick-activated power tailgate, a 10-point massage function, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 30-colour ambient lighting system, a head-up display, and a three-zone automatic climate control system, among others.
