Audi Recalls Q6 e-tron and SQ6 e-tron Due to Faulty Cameras

by Grace

Volkswagen Group of America has issued a recall for 313 Audi Q6 e-tron and SQ6 e-tron vehicles in the U.S., along with 58 units in Canada. The recall, filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), involves the replacement of both the rearview camera and the 360-degree surround view cameras, which were supplied by Continental.

The issue stems from improper cleaning of the cameras during production, as stated by the company. This could cause moisture to enter the camera housing, resulting in blurry images. A distorted camera image increases the risk of accidents, prompting the recall.

The blurry rearview camera image does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111. Following several complaints, the Audi Product Safety Committee began investigating the problem last year. Continental addressed the cleaning issue by optimizing its process in November 2024.

Dealers have been instructed to replace all rearview cameras and inspect the surround view cameras for specific part numbers. If necessary, additional surround view cameras will also be replaced at no cost to customers. The affected vehicles in the U.S. were produced for the 2025 model year between July 22, 2024, and December 17, 2024.

The recall applies only to the 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron and SQ6 e-tron, excluding their Sportback versions. Owners will receive recall notifications by first-class mail around June 6, 2025.

The Audi Q6 e-tron, a competitor to the Porsche Macan Electric, shares its platform with the long-wheelbase Q6L e-tron for China. It offers rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive options, with the SQ6 e-tron featuring two electric motors as standard.

The most affordable models of the Macan Electric in the U.S. are priced at $75,300 and $78,800, while the Audi Q6 e-tron starts at $63,800 for the rear-drive Premium model and $65,800 for the dual-motor Premium quattro. The SQ6 e-tron starts at $72,900.

The highest-performance Q6 e-tron delivers 509 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.1 seconds. It also offers up to 60 cubic feet (1,700 liters) of cargo space with the rear seats folded and an EPA range of 275 miles (443 kilometers) on a full charge.

With the ability to charge at up to 270 kilowatts, the Q6 e-tron with rear-wheel drive and the Ultra package can achieve an EPA range of 321 miles (517 kilometers). The Ultra package includes low rolling resistance summer tires and 18-inch wheels, replacing the standard 19-inch wheels.

Last year, the Q6 e-tron, including the Sportback, saw 966 units sold in the U.S. In the past quarter, the Volkswagen Group of America reported 3,246 deliveries.
