Mercedes-Benz has announced a “strictly limited” run of the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Edition R in Australia, offering significant price reductions of up to $10,000 compared to the standard model.
The Edition R wagon is priced from $128,900 before on-road costs, a decrease from the regular AMG GLC43’s $136,900 price tag. Meanwhile, the Edition R coupe is available for $141,600, down from $147,500. This means savings ranging from $7,500 to $9,600, depending on the model, and it includes upgraded larger alloy wheels.
While some features have been removed from the standard AMG GLC43 for the Edition R, the special edition comes with exclusive upgrades. Notably, Mercedes-Benz has removed the ‘digital’ LED headlights with Adaptive High Beam Plus, augmented-reality navigation, and the nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel.
However, the Edition R adds the AMG Dynamic Plus package, which includes dynamic engine mounts and a Race drive mode. It also features the AMG Performance Seat Advanced package, which includes black ‘Artico’ leather-accented and ‘Microcut’ microfibre upholstery—features not available on the standard model.
Other key enhancements include 21-inch matte black Y-spoke alloy wheels (a $1600 option on the regular version), red seatbelts and brake calipers, a leather and Alcantara AMG Performance steering wheel, and a metal finish trim on the centre console and dashboard. The Edition R also gets the AMG Night Package II, which offers a darkened chrome grille and exterior badging, distinguishing it from the standard AMG GLC43.
This follows the launch of the Mercedes-AMG C43 Edition R in mid-2024, which offered similar upgrades and a larger $28,000 price cut compared to the standard C43.
Under the hood, the all-wheel-drive AMG GLC43 Edition R retains a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This setup delivers 310kW and 500Nm, replacing the twin-turbo V6 found in the previous model. The Edition R is capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, with the mild-hybrid system providing an additional 10kW/150Nm during short bursts of acceleration.
Standard features in the Edition R mirror those found in the regular GLC43, including an 11.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (wired or wireless), heated front seats, a Burmester 3D surround-sound audio system, and a wireless phone charger.
The 2025 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Edition R wagon and coupe are now available for order in Australia.
